New Zealand is making it easier for international graduates to stay and work after they finish studying. Immigration New Zealand has announced a new Short-Term Graduate Work Visa and an expansion of the Post Study Work Visa (PSWV), both expected from late 2026.
Two new options
- Short-Term Graduate Work Visa — gives eligible graduates who have completed their studies in New Zealand up to six months of open work rights, so they can find a job and gain experience.
- Wider Post Study Work Visa — eligibility is being expanded to include graduates who have completed a Graduate Diploma at NZQCF level 7.
